Check out SciWeavers for some great  apps. My favorite is the i2style typeset generator. You can create buttons without images, etc. Just pick your colors, text, corners, etc. and grab the code. Super simple and best of all free! They have i2symbol, iweb2print and much more.

A More Affordable Adobe CS 5.5

Read the following article from webdesigner depot about the subscription options for CS 5.5. I'd be interested to know what you think.

Windows 7 Movie Maker

A few questions came up during my talk on using Windows 7 Movie Maker for video that I couldn't answer and said I'd get back to everyone. So, here's what I've found out so far:

• Narration tools - There are none with W7 MM! So, you can (according to Microsoft) add a voice over in the same way you would add music. I don't think you can add both, but I am still experimenting. I could not get it to accept the .wav file I created with Audacity - something I've been doing with Captivate, etc. for quite some time. I thought it might be my 64bit system, but according to audacity it is not. I also tried to add other file types with no luck. The problem might be that I already have the audio background. Again, I will continue to experiment with this issue. It could be the codec, but not according to what I have read so far. 
• Timeline - The view you get is it - no "timeline" per se - they consider the view to be all you need. It does work for basic stuff quite well and I think that is the whole point behind the program.

InDesign CS5.5 Supports Digital Publishing Suite

Today, the Creative Suite team unveiled a new update to Design Premium, InDesign and other products in the Creative Suite line that includes exciting new support for Digital Publishing Suite. InDesign CS5.5 will ship with tools that enable designers to start creating digital magazines, newspapers, corporate publications and advertising for reading on tablet devices such as Apple iPad, BlackBerry PlayBook (coming soon) and a wide variety of Android tablets for tablet devices. With InDesign CS5.5, designers can use the new Folio Producer toolset to insert interactvity into layouts, preview publications on the desktop, and upload them for final production with Digital Publishing Suite hosted services.
